Oil Pastel After Dark: City Lights & Reflections
Step into the glow of the city after dark in this expressive oil pastel workshop for adults. Guided by Art One instructor Lorna Fotiadou, participants will create a dramatic evening streetscape filled with glowing storefronts, streetlights, wet pavement, and colourful reflections.
You’ll explore how artists create the feeling of light at night, learning to layer and blend oil pastels, build rich dark backgrounds, create contrast, and use warm and cool colours to make lights appear to glow. Reflections on wet pavement provide the perfect opportunity to loosen up your marks and experiment with colour, movement, and texture.
The project is designed to be approachable for beginners while giving more experienced artists the freedom to develop greater depth, detail, and atmosphere in their work. Each participant will leave with a finished cityscape and new techniques for working expressively with oil pastel.
No previous art experience is required. All materials are provided. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be served, so come ready to create, relax, and enjoy an inspiring afternoon at Art One Academy.
