In-person classes and camps are closed due to Provincial Shutdown Order effective April 3, 2021.
Our Portfolio course is tailored to the needs of students who are ready to apply to art-related university programs, including fine art, graphic design, animation, and architecture.
In this class, we focus on improving key skills, creating higher-level works of art, and pulling everything together into a portfolio that can be used in the university application process. The exact approaches taken are tailored to the needs of the student based on what program or programs they are applying to.
The instructors for this class are all professional artists who have excelled within their chosen fields and have graduated from major art institutions in Canada, the U.S., and Russia. These instructors serve not just as teachers, but as mentors.
Fees are paid by term. It is prorated for students who join late and it is subject to availability. Your credit card is not charged until we verify all the fees and apply discounts.
Note: If you don’t see your preferable day and time, most likely it means the class is full, don’t get upset – contact us and we gladly find you a suitable option.
Yes, depending on the program, the requirements and preferences may be different. For example, in architecture, admissions prefer drawings that showcase an understanding of perspective (buildings, stairs, still-life).
Your portfolio can include a variety of subject matter with various media such as pencil drawing, acrylic and oil painting, mixed media, and others. A sketchbook is highly recommended for your portfolio.
Unlike our regular teen classes, the class size for portfolio students is smaller – no more than 6 students. This allows the teacher a more personalized approach with each student and their portfolios.
Our teacher will be evaluating the knowledge and skills of a potential student and preparing an individual plan for every student based on the requirements of the particular institution. It will include a written report that will be given in the beginning of the term. The report will include an approximate amount of hours needed to perfect the portfolio, recommended artwork, strengths and weaknesses as well as personalized recommendations from the teacher. The student and teacher will also develop goals and an action plan to follow-through.
Yes, there will be an additional $40 charge for every institution after the first one.
