Katie Zsargo (she/her) is a mixed-media artist who is currently based in Oakville. She is a recent graduate of the joint Art & Art History program between the University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College. Her work has been featured in BUFF, as well as at the Blackwood Gallery and the Women’s Art Association of Canada. She has also received the Therese Bolliger Award for Excellence in Sculpture 3 for her work “My Circus, My Monkeys”.
Her fixation on her past and its intrinsic fear of change, as well as the unpredictability and unreliability of memory, encompass her primary inspirations. She uses non-traditional methods of portraiture, hiding sincerity behind spectacle, and accessing the conscious through the unconscious to represent her intrapersonal leitmotifs.
