Winter Backyard Birds of Ontario

Dates: December 6, 13, and 20 | Age: 4-6 | Blue Room.

In this workshop, students create their own Winter Holiday card by exploring seasonal themes, planning a simple composition, and learning foundational drawing and painting techniques. The class begins with a look at different holiday card styles to inspire ideas, followed by a guided pencil sketch of a meaningful subject such as a winter scene, animal, or festive symbol. Students then build their artwork with watercolor or tempera and enhance it with mixed-media details for texture and depth.

Techniques and learning elements include:

• Exploring holiday card styles and seasonal imagery

• Working with watercolor or tempera to create vibrant effects
• Adding mixed-media accents for texture and detail
• Creating clean borders and polished finishing touches
