Caroline Ruivo is a Portuguese-Canadian visual artist who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology as well as a Post-Graduate Independent Illustration Diploma from York University in Toronto. She has been a part of Art One Academy for many years and is thrilled to be an Art Instructor for younger artists. “I love to encourage each child to take creative risks because art is a fundamental aspect in child development. As children enhance their fine motor skills they are motivated to confidently invent new ideas and learn from mistakes with a positive and healthy mindset! My hope is that they will carry this creative confidence with them as they grow up.”
Caroline also has a Masters (M.Ed) degree in Developmental Psychology and Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto and she is a Full Professional Member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care (OACYC).
In previous years, she has been a Research Assistant for the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She has also been a Senior Counsellor for the York Region District School Board (YRDSB). As a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Coach, she is passionate about promoting resilience, creativity, and well-being.
Caroline works with a variety of different media such as digital painting and illustration, watercolour, oil pastel and traditional sketching. Her favourite medium is to create acrylic paintings with a palette knife using the impasto technique.
