Lida has wide experience teaching figurative and portraits drawing. In addition to her B.F.A. her particular interest in portraits led her to continue her education by studying two years figure drawing program in Beaux Art, France. She successfully teaches portfolio students and help artists to develop their own unique style in different media like oil, acrylics, soft pastel, watercolor, mixed media, pencil and charcoal.

This workshop will be especially essential for our Portfolio students since the portrait drawing is a very important part of figurative drawing. In addition it will build your skills for the self portrait. You will be using conté in black, sanguine and brown tones. All the visual aid will be provided.
Week One: The goal of this week is to teach you the fundamentals of portrait drawing and to give you the understanding of head structure with particular details on nose, eyes, ears and mouth. Students will be working on various interesting warm up drawing exercises.
Week Two and Three: Drawing from model. The goal is to understand the planes of the head, achieve 3 dimensional effects using light. You will learn how to establish proportions and place the features correctly. The knowledge of how to work from the general to specific and how to build tone and value will lead you to a life-like 2 dimensional artwork.
