Cartooning For Kids Ages 5 to 6
A beginning drawing program made especially for youngsters designed to be a fun, no pressure environment that introduces children to different drawing techniques that will improve their art and get get them excited about learning more. Students will have a great time as
they draw and color all sorts of funny and exciting characters, from people to animals and even aliens!

Designed for both beginning artists and those who like to try new things, this program offers students the unique opportunity to learn the basics of Comic and Animation drawing as they work within a multitude of different styles and genres.
Everything from classic comic book Super Heroes, funny cartoons, Japanese anime, working with colour, and much more will be covered in what is sure to be a fun learning experience. An excellent program for young artists who are just starting to gain an interest in drawing.
Ages 10 and up
Discover an entire universe of characters and stories that’s waiting for you inside your imagination! In this drawing program, students will learn the structure of figure drawing as they create their own diverse range of characters, outfit them with costumes, equip them with props, and develop a world for them to live in.
Students will learn how their favourite comic books and cartoons are brought to life as they visualize their own characters using the same techniques as the professionals.
Ages 10 and up
Animation and comic books from Japan have taken the world by storm! This incredible drawing program will introduce students to what makes anime (ah-nee-may) and manga (mah-n-gah) so special as they learn the secrets to making their own anime artwork look authentic.
Students will create their own characters and stories with that cool Japanese flavour, and delve into popular anime staples including dragons, monsters, and robots. The inner workings of anime and its history will also be covered, giving students a better understanding of what these kinds of artwork are and how to harness their power.

Experience how a comic book comes together in this one-of-a-kind sequential art program. Here, students will take their drawing skills and creativity to the next step as they explore light and shadow using ink, establish backgrounds and camera angles, work with scripts, and finally make their artwork come to life in fully rendered comic pages utilizing advanced visual storytelling techniques. The projects in this course are just like what professional comic book artists work on.

Comic Books in Japan are called manga, and they are an extremely popular, widely available form of art with a deep culture. Manga can be about any topic imaginable, from super heroes to everyday dramas, and everyone reads them! Now, a wide array of manga can be found at just about any bookstore around the world. Through this program, students will explore the rich storytelling possibilities that can be found in manga, further their drawing abilities, and gain expert illustration skills to make their own characters and situations into fully developed pages of manga artwork.
(Must have completed Japanese Anime and Manga)
Ages 10 and up
This advanced mixed-media program is all about working with colour. Students will learn how colour enhances the look and personality of characters and creates the illusion of texture, shadows, and highlights. A variety of exciting professional colour techniques will be demonstrated as students work to complete full colour illustrations of their very own. As a bonus, there will also be a special digital art presentation.
Ages 13 and up
This specialty course for students who already have some drawing experience will explore the art of illustrating ideas and concepts for animation, comic books, film, and video games. Characters, costumes, vehicles, and creatures will be among the many topics used to stretch both art skills as well as creative thinking. Using popular examples as guides, students will begin to understand how 2-dimensional artwork plays a significant part in the process of bringing their favourite forms of entertainment from concept to reality.
