The Art One Academy recruits local, Richmond Hill, Thornhill, Markham and Toronto, high school student volunteers for the fall term (September through December), spring term (January through June), and summer term (July through August). Student volunteers assist teachers that support our education programs. Typical activities include preparing materials for art projects, cleaning, photocopying, filing, and assisting during teacher programs.

Candidates for the High School Volunteer Program must be rising juniors or seniors with a mature, positive attitude and a strong work ethic. The schedule will vary weekly, based on the number of projects to be completed. Service hours will be documented and may be submitted for school-based community service credits.

Testimonials

My two children attend classes at Art One Academy once a week. Since they started these classes I have noticed a huge improvement in their artistic styles. They have also demonstrated more focus and commitment to other areas of life, including academics. The encouragement and support that they have received from staff at Art One Academy has greatly boosted their self-esteem.

Now they are both much more confident and articulate in expressing personal opinions. I have also been surprised by the increased interest that my children have shown in the art world. They now inform themselves of traveling exhibitions – they have even started dragging me along to galleries and museums, whereas it always used to be the other way around!
